Gyros pita with TVP


Block #1

  • 1 x 100 g bag of Greek-style TVP
  • Juice of 1 medium lemon
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp.) olive oil

Block #2

  • 4 Greek-style pita bread, warmed up
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) homemade or store-bought Tzatziki sauce
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) romaine lettuce, split into leaves
  • 2 Lebanese cucumbers, cut into sticks
  • 1 Italian tomato, thinly sliced
  • Olives and fresh mint, to taste (optional)

How to prepare

  1. In a bowl, combine the ingredients from Block #1, except for the olive oil.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil and sauté the TVP for 3 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Top each bread with the Tzatziki sauce, then sprinkle with the grilled TVP. Add the rest of the toppings. Close the bread and enjoy!
