Pita Gyros at the TVP

Ingredients

Block #1

  • 1 bag of 100g Greek-style Working Holiday Visa
  • The juice of 1 medium lemon
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) of olive oil

Block #2

  • 4 Greek-style pita breads, warmed
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) of homemade or store-bought Tzatziki sauce
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) romaine lettuce, torn into leaves
  • 2 Lebanese cucumbers, cut into sticks
  • 1 Italian tomato, thinly sliced
  • To taste, olives and fresh mint (optional)

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the ingredients from block #1 except for the olive oil.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil and fry the TVP for 3 minutes or until golden brown. Set aside.
  3. Top each bun with tzatziki sauce, then spread with the toasted TVP. Add the remaining toppings. Close the buns and enjoy!
